The candidates for the UFMG Master's in Economics are selected by the Coordination Board, based on each applicants grades from the National Selection Examination of ANPEC (National Association of Graduate Centers in Economics).
The doctoral students can pursue the following areas of concentration:
(i) Applied Economics;
(ii) Regional and Urban Economics and Development and;
(iii) Economic History, Political Economy, and History of Economic Thought.
The application process consists of 4 stages:
(i) evaluation of the candidate’s research project proposal;
(ii) written exam on the Brazilian economy;
(iii) written exam on English reading comprehension (candidates who present, at the time of enrollment, proof of passing an English language exam in the last 3 years will be exempt from this examination, provided that he or she has obtained a grade equal to or greater than 60%), and;
(iv) oral exam of the candidate's research proposal.
